Guy Watson
Guy Watson (born in Totnes in 1960)[1] is a farmer and founder and creator of Britain's largest supplier of organic produce through the mechanism of the 'organic box' scheme.[2] Riverford Farm was taken over by the Watson family in the 1950s and in the 1980s Guy Watson decided to convert to farming organically. To find an effective way of distributing his produce, his idea was the weekly veg box scheme, which is delivered direct to customers' doors with locally grown produce.
Watson lectures on ethical business[3] and is a judge for the Observer Ethical Awards[4] and his leadership has seen five previous Observer awards including Best Ethical Business [5] and Best Ethical Restaurant in 2009.[6]
