Gulbarga railway station is located in Gulbarga district in the Indian state of Karnataka and serves Gulbarga. The town is also known as Kalburgi.

History

The Great Indian Peninsula Railway extended its Mumbai-Solapur line to Raichur in 1871 and worked on that line from 1865.[1] [2]

Construction of the Gulbarga-Bidar link is progressing. It is expected to be operational by the end of 2015.[3][4]

The railway track in the Daund-Wadi sector is being doubled at a cost of Rs. 700 crore.[5]

Electrification

Electrification work in the 641km Pune-Wadi-Guntakal sector have been initiated but is yet to get going.[6]

Amenities

Gulbarga railway station has a computerized reservation counter, public call office with subscribers’ trunk dialing facilities, waiting room, retiring rooms, vegetarian and non-vegetarianrefreshment stalls, light refreshment stall, tea stall and book stall.[7]

Station upgradation

Gulbarga railway station would be remodeled with the addition of a fourth platform, extension of the existing platforms, installation of two escalators, addition of a dormitory and the addition of a new railway overbridge. A new entrance facing the Tarafail area would be constructed. [8]
