Gu Chao (Chinese: 顾超; Pinyin: Gù Chāo; born 20 August 1989 in Shanghai) is a Chinese football player who currently plays for Chinese Super League side Hangzhou Greentown.

Club career

Gu joined Genbao Football Academy in 2000 and was promoted to Shanghai East Asia squad in 2006 for the China League Two campaign. He played as a regular goalkeeper and made an impression within the team as Shanghai East Asia won promotion to the second tier in the 2007 season.

On 15 March 2011, he transferred to Chinese Super League side Hangzhou Greentown with a fee of ¥2 million.[1] On 6 July 2011, he made his debut for Hangzhou in a 1–1 away draw against Dalian Shide.[2] On 16 July, he kept clean sheet in a friendly match against Arsenal when he came on as a substitute in the 46th minute.[3] He mainly play as the back-up goalkeeper for Jiang Bo in the 2011 and 2012 season.
