Grupo Vidanta

Grupo Vidanta is a resort developer and one of the largest tour operators in Mexico.[1] As of 2013, the company employs 14,000 people, and its annual revenue constitutes about US$750 million.[1] The company owns and operates the Mar de Cortés International Airport[2][3] and the Grupo Vidanta Foundation.[4]

Headquartered in Guadalajara, Mexico, it operates 20 resort brands.

Founder

Daniel Chavez Moran founded the group in 1974.

Mar de Cortes International Airport

The Mar de Cortés International Airport, located in La Jolla de Cortés, Sonora, was opened on November 5, 2009.[2][5][6] The airport's concrete runway is the fourth runway in Mexico to be built entirely with concrete provided by Cemex,[7] and the airport was awarded a Premio Obras Cemex in 2007.[8]

Vida Vacations

In December 2010, a new resort family brand was launched originally titled "Vida Vacation Club", also known as "Vida Vacations".[9] In Mexico, Vida Vacations is branded "Mundo Selecto".[10] Vida Vacation resort brands include Grand Luxxe, The Grand Bliss, The Grand Mayan, The Bliss and Mayan Palace.[11]

Hotel brands

As of 2013, the company operates seven hotel brands totaling 7000 rooms:[1]

  • Mansions of the World[12][13][14]
  • Grand Luxxe[15][16]
  • The Grand Bliss[17][18]
  • The Grand Mayan, which was host to the Uniting Nations Cup in May 2011.[19]
  • Mayan Palace
  • Sea Garden
  • The Bliss.

Vidanta Golf

The firm owns five golf courses under the Vidanta Golf brand,[20] at Acapulco, Puerto Penasco, El Manglar, Los Cabos, and Nuevo Vallarta. A Jack Nicklaus Golf Academy opened in Nuevo Vallarta in July 2012, and was the fifteenth Nicklaus Academy worldwide and third in Mexico at the time.[21]

Vidanta Golf is attributed to be the largest golf course operator in Mexico.[22] In 2011, it started to organize an annual Uniting Nations Cup golf tournament in Puerto Peñasco.[22][23]
