Grupo Continental (BMV: AC) is a beverage company geared to the production, sales and distribution of products owned by The Coca-Cola Company, has a presence in central and western Mexico. The company has its headquarters in Tampico, Tamaulipas.
Description of the Company
Under the leadership of its founder, Dr. Burton E. Grossman, Grupo Continental began operations in 1964.
Grupo Continental is a Beverage company geared to the production, sales and distribution of products owned by The Coca-Cola Company trademarks, such as: Coca-Cola, Coca-Cola Light, Coca-Cola Light Caffeine Free, Coca-Cola Zero, Fanta, Fanta Zero, Sprite, Sprite Zero, Fresca, Fresca Zero, Manzana Lift, Manzana Lift Golden, Manzana Lift Zero, Delaware Punch, Senzao, Ciel, Ciel Mineralizada, Ciel +, Minute Maid Revita, Nestea, Nestea Light, Nestea Green Tea, Powerade, Gladiator Energy Drink, Del Valle, Frutsi, Beberé, Valle Frut, Glacéau Vitaminwater and Illyissimo.
The efforts of Grupo Continental's Board of directors and a team of Executives and Employees have positioned it as one of the 10 largest Coca-Cola bottling groups in the world.[citation needed]
The company has 8 production and distribution centers, 2 production centers, 12 urban distribution centers and 72 distribution centers located in the main towns and cities of the states of: Aguascalientes, Coahuila, Colima, Durango, Jalisco, San Luis Potosí and Zacatecas.
History
In 1964 Grupo Continental started operations with four bottling plants and two service companies.
- Embotelladora de Coahuila, S.A. de C.V., in Torreón, Coahuila.
- Embotelladora Guadiana, S.A. de C.V., in Durango, Durango.
- Embotelladora San Luis, S.A. de C.V., in San Luis Potosí, San Luis Potosí.
- Embotelladora Aguascalientes, S.A. de C.V., in Aguascalientes, Aguascalientes.
- Grossman y Asociados, S.A. de C.V., and Fomento Industrial Azteca, S.A. de C.V., in Tampico, Tamaulipas.
In 1965 in the city of Gómez Palacio, Durango, Embotelladora Gómez Palacio, S.A. de C.V. starts operations.
In 1976 Grupo Continental acquires Embotelladora La Favorita, S.A. de C.V. in the metropolitan area of Guadalajara, Jalisco.
In 1978 in the city of Ameca, Jalisco, Embotelladora Ameca, S.A. de C.V. starts operations.
Initially, the company had 15 distribution centers and 175 vehicles for the distribution and sale of its products to 12,650 customers who, in turn, delivered our products to 2 million consumers; at this time we provided employment for 400 people.
Grupo Continental merged with Embotelladoras Arca in January 2011 in a 27.7 billion peso ($2.3 billion) exchange of stock and the resulting conglomerate is called Arca-Continental, trading on the Mexican Stock Exchange.[1]
