Groz-Beckert KG is a part of the Groz-Beckert Group located in Albstadt-Ebingen in Baden-Württemberg, Germany. Groz-Beckert is a market leader in the manufacturing of industrial machine needles, precision engineering as well as systems and services for the manufacture and sewing of textiles.

The company was set up in 1852 and is still owned and managed by the family. The group has approximately 7.500 employees (31. December 2011), of which 2,100 work in Albstadt. It is the largest employer in Zollernalbkreis. The group had an annual turnover of 528 Mio. Euro. in 2011.[1]

History

Theodor Groz opened in 1852 a shop for toys and accessories with an affiliated needle factory in Ebingen. Ernst Beckert set-up in 1871 his own needle factory with the name "Ernst Beckert" in Eibenberg, near Chemnitz. 1884 Ernst Beckert moved his company to Chemnitz.

The two companies merged in 1937 with Walther Groz being Managing Director. Now, Thomas Lindner, a relative of the founders, manages the company and is also President of the VDMA.[2]
