Grovetown High School is a new Columbia County, Georgia[1] high school that opened on August 10, 2009.[2] It is located in Grovetown, Georgia.[3] Grovetown High School is located at 2010 Warrior Way off of William Few Pkwy. Grovetown High School's enrollment for the 2010-2011 school year will be just a little over 1300 students.
Speech & Debate Team
The Grovetown High School Debate Team began in 2011. Currently, it competes in Lincoln-Douglas, Public Forum and Policy Debate as well as some Individual Events including Extemporaneous, Impromptu and Prose/Poetry.
In its first year (2011) it won runner up to the state champion in the novice division of Lincoln-Douglas (LD) at the GFCA's 1st and 2nd Year State Championship. In its second year Deanna Snellings won the state championship at the same tournament in the LD division and Alexis Berry and Katie Trimm were semifinalists in the Public Forum division, as well as Colin Berry who was a semifinalist in the LD division.
In its second year, during its first trip to the Southern Peach District Qualifier, one team member, Colin Berry, qualified for the 2013 National Tournament.
The Debate team is affiliated with both the National Forensic League and the Georgia Forensic Coaches Association.
