Grigory Drozd (Russian: Григорий Анатольевич Дрозд) (born August 26, 1979 Prokopyevsk, Soviet Union) is a Russian professional boxer. He is the current EBU (European) Cruiserweight champion.

Boxing career

Grigory only fought three amateur fights he won all of them. His managers name is Dietmar Poszwa. He is a world cruiserweight contender with a great record of thirty two wins and just one lose he won his first 25 fights. He faced Darnell Wilson on July 2, 2009 at the Sport Complex Krylatskoe, Moscow, Russia Drozd won the fight in the tenth round. He is in the top ten WBO rankings. Its looking good for Grigory Drozd as he has a great record and a serious contender in the cruiserweight division it looks likely he will get a title shot. The WBO Cruiserweight Champion Marco Huck looks likely to happen. He fought Michael Simms 23 February 2008 at the DIVS, Ekaterinburg, Russia there was 25,000 fans at the stadium. The first round of the fight was the best they went toe to toe Michael Simms done well as with Drozd's hard punch which he's very famous for in Russia. The fight went eight rounds and Grigory Drozd won the fight with his technique skills which proved to good. On 6 December 2008 Drozd Fought Rob Calloway for the vacant WBO Asia Pacific cruiserweight title, vacant WBC Asian Boxing Council cruiserweight title and the vacant PABA cruiserweight title at the Circus, Nizhny Novgorod Russia. It was voted Asian Super Fight of the year. The fight went seven rounds out of a twelve round fight Drozd Knockdown Michael Simms eight times in rounds 1,2,4,5,6,7 with his fantastic right hook he knocked Simms out and won the fight.

On October 5, 2013, Drozd won the EBU (European) Cruiserweight title in Moscow by defeating former champion Mateusz Masternak via eleventh-round technical knockout.[1]
