Greig City Academy is a mixed-sex secondary school within the English academy programme, in the borough of Haringey.
The Greig Trust and the Church of England sponsor the Academy, which is a registered charity under English law.[1] David Greig, a successful local businessman, founded the Greig Trust in memory of his mother in 1949. The Trust was established to provide funds to assist with the education of Hornsey children in accordance with the Christian faith. The Greig Trust contributed significantly to the programme of refurbishment and new building which began in 2002. The Church of England has also contributed a significant amount to the renewal of the facilities at Greig City Academy.
The Academy's GCSE results are improving year on year and it has a thriving Sixth Form with over 80% of its students going onto university each year. Its outdoor education programme is generously supported by the Greig Trust and was declared by Ofsted to be a real strength of the school. The programme enables students across the school to experience activities such as abseiling, mountain biking, canoeing, kayaking, sailing, rock climbing and much more.
