Greg Steube is the current Republican member of the Florida House of Representatives, representing the 67th district from 2010 to 2012, and 73rd district from 2012 to the present.

Personal life

Greg Steube was born in Bradenton, FL on May 19, 1978 to father Brad and mother Debbie Steube. He attended Southeast High School for secondary education, before attending the University of Florida. During his time in college, he was a member of the Alpha Gamma Rho fraternity as well as a member of the University of Florida Honor Society Florida Blue Key. He was inducted into the University of Florida Hall of Fame.[1] During his time at the University of Florida, he interned in both the Florida Legislature as well as the U.S. House of Representatives.

During his last year of Law School, Greg Steube enlisted in the U.S. Army's delayed entry program, and after completing the Florida Bar Exam, entered into a year in the Infantry. Afterward, he transferred to the Judge Advocate General's Corps for three years, during which he became a Captain. This took place during the Second Gulf War.[2]

He married Jennifer Retzer on March 17, 2012.

Currently, in addition to his job as a legislator, he is an Associate Attorney at the law firm of Becker & Poliakoff.[3]

Politics

In 2009, Greg Steube announced that he would be running for State Representative of District 67 in the Florida House of Representatives. Major momentum formed after his endorsement from U.S. Representative Vern Buchanan, former Representative Ron Reagan, Representative Bill Galvano, businessman Pat Neal and many others.[4] By March 23, he had enough signatures to officially be a candidate for the vacant seat.[5]

On August 24, 2010, he won the Republican Primary with 53% of the vote, as compared to the runner-up with 28% of the vote. He proceeded to run against two other candidates for the House seat, ultimately winning the November 4, 2010 election with 68% of the vote.[6]

In 2011, he announced that he would run for re-election.[7]
