Greg Brown is an American businessman.[1][2] He serves as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Motorola Solutions.[1][2][3]

Early life

Greg Brown graduated from Rutgers University, where he received a Bachelor of Science in Economics in 1982.[1][2][3]

Career

Greg Brown, 53, is chairman and chief executive officer of Motorola Solutions, Inc. He joined Motorola in January 2003 and was elected to the company's board of directors in 2007. He became CEO of Motorola in January 2008 and led the successful spin-off of the consumer-focused Motorola Mobility in 2011.[3]

Prior to joining Motorola, he was chairman and CEO of Micromuse Inc. from 1999 to 2003.[3]

Brown is a member of the Cisco board of directors, serves as deputy chair of the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago,[4] and on behalf of the Business Roundtable leads a select CEO committee on immigration reform. He also is vice chair of the US-ASEAN Business Council, and a member of The Business Council and Technology CEO Council.[3]

Additionally, Brown is a board member of Northwestern Memorial Hospital, the Big Shoulders Fund, the Civic Committee of the Commercial Club of Chicago, World Business Chicago and the Economic Club of Chicago, and is vice chair of the Executives’ Club of Chicago.[3]

He recently served as a member of President Obama’s Management Advisory Board and in 2004, President George W. Bush appointed Brown to the National Security Telecommunications Advisory Committee (NSTAC).[3]

He earned a bachelor's degree in economics and an honorary doctorate in humane letters from Rutgers University, and also serves as vice chair on the university’s Board of Governors.[3]
