Grant Gilchrist (born 9 August 1990) is a Scottish rugby union player who plays for Edinburgh Rugby in the RaboDirect Pro12, he plays at lock. He has represented Scotland at U18, U19, U20 levels and more recently got his first full cap for Scotland against France in the 2013 RBS Six Nations at the Stade de France, aged 22.
Background
Grant was schooled at Lornshill Academy, and played with Alloa RFC before moving on to Stirling County RFC.
He was an Elite Development player, but was unable to make an appearance for Edinburgh until a year after joining due to injury, following a stint in New Zealand as part of the John Macphail Scholarship, he has since become a regular at Murrayfield with almost 50 appearances in the 2012/2013 season. He made his debut for Edinburgh in their 34-13 win over Cardiff Blues in September 2011.
He currently lives in Edinburgh with his girlfriend Chloe, soon to have a pug called Brian. Grant often says a large part of his rugby success was down to the extreme hard work and 'graft' he put in whilst training at Stirling University gym with fellow rugby players Jason Hill and Danny Gilmour.
