ITV News Granada Reports (previously Granada Reports) is a regional news programme for North West England and the Isle of Man, produced by ITV Granada.
Overview
ITV News Granada Reports is produced and broadcast from studios in the Orange Tower at MediaCityUK in Salford Quays, with the first bulletin being broadcast from the new facilities on 24 March 2013.[1] Before this, the news service was based at Granada's studios in Quay Street, Manchester. Reporters are also based at newsrooms in the Royal Liver Building, Liverpool, Lancaster and on the Isle of Man. News staff were also based at offices in Blackburn and Chester until they were closed in 2005.
Prior to its launch in 1973, the nightly news programme had been known under several titles such as Northern Newscast, Scene at Six Thirty and People and Places. Between 1990 and September 2001, the main evening programme was known as Granada Tonight. Shorter bulletins aired as Granada News. From 14 January 2013 all programming is branded as ITV News Granada Reports.
The programme was unaffected with cutbacks to ITV regional news in early 2009.[2] The only major change saw ITV Granada take over coverage of the Isle of Man from ITV Tyne Tees & Border on 16 July 2009.
On 27 September 2012, it was announced technical staff had been invited to volunteer for redundancy as part of national job losses affecting ITV News services. The timing coincided with production moving from Granada Studios to MediaCityUK.[3] In January 2013, a second announcement regarding further redundancies of editorial staff was made.
Broadcast times
ITV News Granada Reports airs on ITV Granada seven days a week.
On weekdays, three short bulletins are broadcast during Daybreak at 6:07am, 7:07am and 8:07am with a four-minute lunchtime bulletin at 1:55pm, following the ITV News at 1:30. The main half-hour programme airs at 6pm with a 8-minute late bulletin at 10:30pm, following the ITV News at Ten.
At weekends, two 5 or 10-minute editions of ITV News Granada Reports are broadcast – one later on Saturday afternoons and another on Sunday evenings.

In 2007, ITV News Granada Reports won the Royal Television Society awards for best news coverage in the Nations and Regions. This was followed by the Best News Programme at the 2007 Broadcast Awards and finally, Best News Coverage in the 2007 BAFTA Television Awards – the first regional news programme to be nominated and the only regional news programme to ever win a BAFTA. All three awards were won for their coverage of the trial of four men and one woman, charged with manslaughter during the 2004 Morecambe Bay cockling disaster. Judges described the coverage as bold, brave and a tribute to regional news at its best.

Other RTS awards won by the programme in recent years have included the Best North West Regional Story in 2010 for a special report from Afghanistan and in 2011 also for the Colin Blanchard story. Best Regional On Screen Talent for news correspondent went to Rob Smith in 2011.
