Graeme Shinnie (born 4 August 1991) is a Scottish professional footballer who plays as a defender for Inverness Caledonian Thistle.

Career

Shinnie made his senior debut for Inverness Caledonian Thistle in the Scottish League Cup on 1 August 2009, making his League debut on 26 September 2009.[1]

The following 2010/11 season, Shinnie soon became a regular player om the first team and Shinnie was offered a contract extension by Inverness on 30 November 2010[2] and agreed a deal until 2013 on 13 December.[3] Shinnie suffered an intestinal problem that stopped him from playing between January and August 2011.[4]

The following 2011/12 season, Graeme brother, Andrew join Inverness on a free transfer from Rangers.[5] Shinnie scored his first goal of his Inverness career on 27 August 2011 in a 2–1 win over Kilmarnock and after the match, manager Terry Butcher expressed delighted for Shinnie on his first goal.[6] Following a 3–1 loss against Dundee United on 17 September 2011, captain Richie Foran spoken out about Shinnie, stating he was worthy of pass marks.[7] Although being a left-back as his main position during the season, he played once in center back and twice in left midfield.

The following 2012/13 season, Shinnie maintain his left back position status in the starting eleven. In a 2–2 draw against Hearts, he provided a double assist for his brother and Conor Pepper, who scored a late minutes[8] In the quarter final of Scottish League Cup, Shinnie scored in a penalty in a 3–0 win over Rangers to advanced to the semi-final[9] In mid-December, Shinnie signed a new contract extension, keeping him until 2015,[10] having promised to signed a new deal.[11]

International career

Shinnie made his debut for the Scotland national under-21 football team in April 2012.[12]

Personal life

Shinnie is the younger brother of Andrew Shinnie, who joined him at Inverness in 2011.[4]
