Governor Stakes

The Governor Stakes was an American Thoroughbred horse race run annually on Labor Day at Belmont Park in Elmont, New York. At one time a Grade 1 race, it was discontinued after the 1975 edition.
The race was open to horses age three and older and was contested on dirt over a distance of 1⅛ miles (9 furlongs).
