The Cabinet of Republic of Kosovo (legally and colloquially called the Government) is the collection of the central Republic of Kosovo institutions that exercises executive authority in Kosovo.[a] It is headed by the Prime Minister of Kosovo, and also includes the deputy prime ministers as well as various ministers.

The Prime Minister is elected by the Assembly of the Republic. Ministers are nominated by the Prime Minister and elected by the Assembly.

Hashim Thaçi is the current Prime Minister of Kosovo and Head of Government. He was reelected for a second term after the December 12, 2010 elections. His cabinet consists of Albanians, as well as ministers from Kosovo's minorities, which include Serbs, Bosniaks and Turks.

Notable movements

In June 2013, Kosovo’s first envoy to Serbia, Lulzim Peci, resigned after two days in the job after reportedly exceeding his powers and making remarks deemed potentially offensive to Belgrade.[1]

a.   ^ Kosovo is the subject of a territorial dispute between the Republic of Serbia and the Republic of Kosovo. The latter declared independence on 17 February 2008, but Serbia continues to claim it as part of its own sovereign territory. Kosovo's independence has been recognised by 107 out of 193 United Nations member states.
