Gordon Cottington (2 April 1911 — 7 June 1996 (aged 85)) was a rugby union and professional rugby league footballer of the 1930s and '40s, playing representative level rugby union (RU) for Scotland, and at club level for Kelso RFC,[1] as a Hooker, i.e. number 2, and playing club level rugby league (RL) for Castleford, [2] as a Hooker, i.e. number 9, he died in Leeds.

Playing career

International honours

Gordon Cottington won caps for Scotland (RU) in 1934 against Ireland, and England, in 1935 against Wales, and Ireland, and in 1936 against England.[3]

Rugby League County League appearances

Gordon Cottington played in Castleford's 1938–39 Yorkshire League victory.[4]

Genealogical information

Gordon Cottington married a Miss Robertson, they had children; Sylvia M. Cottington (birth registered April→June 1939 (age 7475) in Leeds district), and Conryn E. Cottington (birth registered April→June 1943 (age 7071) in Leeds district)
