Gopakumar R (born in Oachira 17 May 1972) is an Indian contemporary artist and Sedition art collector. His collections includes works from renowned contemporary artists such as Damien Hirst, Tracey Emin, Shepard Fairey, Jenny Holzer, Wim Wenders, Mustafa Hulusi, C.E.B. Reas, Mat Collishaw, Tim Noble and Sue Webster, Bob and Roberta Smith, Sui Jianguo, Jitish Kallat, Bharti Kher, AES+F, Mark Titchner, Jane and Louise Wilson, Noritoshi Hirakawa, Elmgreen and Dragset and many others. Biography

Gopakumar R was born on 17 May 1972 in Changankulangara, Oachira, Kollam, Kerala, India as the son of Edathitta N. Ramakrishna Pillai and K. Janamma. He completed his schooling from S.R.V.U.P.S. Changankulangara, B J S M Madathil V H S S, Thazhava North, Karunagapally.

After schooling, at the age of 16, he was under the guidance of two prominent Artists Madhavan and Surasu for two years to learn the preliminary concepts of the Art. This was a stepping stone towards his long journey in the arena of art.

He obtained a Five Year National Diploma in Fine Arts (specialized in painting) from Raja Ravi Varma College of Fine Arts (1990–1995), one of the leading art college in Kerala, India.

Kerala Lalithakala Akademi presented him a scholarship for his education. He also completed Contemporary art training from Museum of Modern Art (MoMA), New York, USA (2012).

He works closely with the artistic literary movement Immagine & Poesia. The international artistic literary movement founded in Torino, Italy, in 2007, under the Patronage of the late Aeronwy Thomas, daughter of Dylan Thomas. He is the official representative for India and Bahrain of this movement.

His works exhibited in Italy, Sweden, France, USA, Bahrain, and India.
