Goombungee is a small town north of Toowoomba in the Darling Downs region of Queensland, Australia. At the 2006 census, Goombungee had a population of 717.[1]
The town hosts an annual Iron man and Iron women competition on Australia Day.[2] There is also an historic museum, an art gallery, a primary school and a police station.
History
Goombungee was the site of the first meeting of the former local government area of Shire of Rosalie in 1879.[3] The town is now part of the Toowoomba Region local government area.
In 2003, the town was connected to a mains water supply.[4]

Awards
Goombungee has won four Queensland Tidy Towns awards, in 1975/76, 1976/77, 1980/81 and 1981/82.[6]
