Gobindpur is a census town in Dhanbad district in the Indian state of Jharkhand.
Geography
Gobindpur is located at 23°50′N 86°31′E / 23.83°N 86.52°E.[1] It has an average elevation of 188 metres (616 feet).
Demographics
As of 2001 India census,[2] Gobindpur had a population of 8,504. Males constitute 54% of the population and females 46%. Gobindpur has an average literacy rate of 65%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 73%, and female literacy is 55%. . History
Gobindpur was a mint town in the Mughal era. Copper coins were produced during the reigns of Akbar and Jahangir.
