Global Tower Partners (GTP), based in Boca Raton, Florida, is the largest privately owned tower operator in the U.S. and the fourth largest independent operator in this sector. GTP owns, manages, or master leases more than 16,000 wireless sites and over 40,000 miles of railroad rights of way throughout the U.S.[1] GTP leases space on towers and rooftops to leading wireless communications providers including AT&T Wireless, Verizon Wireless, Sprint, T-Mobile, US Cellular, Metro PCS, and Leap Wireless. GTP was founded in 2002 and began operations in October 2003. Marc Ganzi, the company's Chief Executive Officer, was the sole founder.[2]

Founding

GTP was founded in 2002 and began operations in October 2003 under direction of the company's Chief Executive Officer, Marc Ganzi. Prior to GTP, Mr. Ganzi was the President and co-founder of Apex Site Management, a company that was the largest third party manager of wireless and wireline communications sites. From his experience with Apex, as well as time spent as a Group President of SpectraSite Communications and as a consulting partner for DB Capital Partners, Ganzi formulated the idea for a fast, friendly, and flexible tower operator. With the backing of Great Hill Partners, GTP was founded under these three guiding principles, which the company still follows today.[2]
