Glenn Franklin Howerton III (born April 13, 1976) is an American actor. He is best known for his role as Dennis Reynolds on FX's It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia (on which he is also a writer and executive producer). He also played Corey Howard on the short-lived 2002 sitcom That '80s Show and appeared in the 2008 horror film The Strangers.[1]

Early life

Howerton was born in Japan, the son of American parents Janice and Glenn Franklin Howerton Jr., a fighter pilot.[2] Howerton grew up in London, South Korea, and Montgomery, Alabama. After graduating from Jefferson Davis High School in Montgomery, he spent two years at New World School of the Arts in Miami, Florida.

Howerton then attended the Juilliard School's Drama Division (1996-2000, Group 29)[3] where he graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree.[4] While earning his degree, he worked as a drama teacher during his summers at French Woods Festival of the Performing Arts in Hancock, New York.[citation needed]

Career

Howerton has guest-starred on ER as Dr. Nick Cooper (six episodes in 2003) and had small roles in the films Serenity (2005), Must Love Dogs (2005), Two Weeks (2006) and The Strangers (2008). Howerton also starred as an emergency room nurse in Crank (2006), and reprised the role again in the sequel Crank: High Voltage. He planned to be executive producing a new show, Boldly Going Nowhere (which has since been shelved), with his It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia co-creators. He also had a recurring role on The Cleveland Show as Ernie, Lester's son. He has a recurring role as an attorney on Fox's The Mindy Project.

Personal life

On September 8, 2009, he married actress Jill Latiano, who guest-starred on an episode of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia. They have a son, Miles.[5]
