Glendale, also known as Bissell, is a town 11 miles from Groveton on Highway 94 in Trinity County, Texas. In 1886, the population grew to 100. The next year, the town had a post office under the name Bissell. During the 1890s Settlers from Illinois and Missouri renamed the town to Glendale. The town exploded after a peach farm was established there, and by 1899, over 1200 residents lived in Glendale. A hotel, several churches, a school, and even a newspaper was there by 1898. By 1900, the town declined. The newspaper moved to Trinity, and by 1914, only 75 people lived in the area. By the 1930s the town increased to 120, which remained roughly the same through the 1960s. By 2000, the population was 175.
