Gil Grand (born Gilles Lagrandeur on January 8, 1968 in Sudbury, Ontario, Canada) is a country music singer, best known for his hit "Famous First Words." Active since 1998, he has released three studio albums to date: 1998's Famous First Words, 2002's Burnin and 2006's Somebody's Someone.[1] He has charted several singles on the Canadian country singles charts as well, including the top ten hit "Famous First Words".

Career

In 1998, Gil Grand left home and headed for Nashville, Tennessee. He would eventually sign a major US record deal with Sony Music Nashville's Monument Records. His debut album, Famous First Words, immediately gained the attention and accolades of the country music industry. He received three CCMA nominations including Male Vocalist of the Year, Album of the Year and Wrangler Rising Star.

With a bunch of new songs under his belt, the stage was set for the release of his second album, Burnin', released in December 2002. "Cry A Little," "Break It To Them Gently," "Run" and the title track all blazed their way up the charts and were mainstays on radio airwaves across the country. The success of this record earned Gil five CCMA nominations in 2003 including Single of the Year, SOCAN Song of the Year, Video of the Year, and Best Album Graphics, with Gil taking home the award for Independent Male Artist of the Year.

Gil released his third album, Somebody's Someone, in March 2006. In 2006, Gil and his younger brother Jake joined forces for “Raise the Roof,” a tour that took them from B.C. to Ontario, raising awareness of Ronald McDonald House Charities. Gil Grand now lives in Nashville where he is co-owner and president of Grand & Gee Music Group.
