Ghurki, Pakistan

Ghurki (Urdu: گھرکی ) is the name of a village on the outskirts of Lahore, Punjab, Pakistan. It is located near the Wagah Border. Rising 212 meters above sea level, it falls under the largest constituency of Lahore. It has a population that counts to 3500 people. It has been used by the Pakistan Army to build trenches during Indo-Pak wars due to its proximity to the border, the inhabitants have been made to evacuate the village whenever there was a threat of a war. The inhabitants of Ghurki usually add Ghurki as their last name. Many famous politicians of Pakistan come from Ghurki they include.

Ghurki Trust Teaching Hospital

The Ghurki Trust Teaching Hospital, in Ghurki, founded by Asghar Ghurki Trust in 1991 is a 450 bedded hospital, situated at Jallo More, one and a half kilometer from the Lahore Medical and Dental College with which it is affiliated. The hospital is commissioned by the Ghurki Family Trust and planned by the Distinguished Architect Mr. Nayyer Dada, it caters Population of more than 1.2 Million people of the surrounding village. In addition to providing outpatient and inpatient facilities, it provides Intensive care services as well as eleven Operation theaters for general surgery ophthalmology and orthopedic surgery. Its current chairman is Mohsin Bilal Ghurki. The board includes the leading orthopaedic surgeon of Pakistan Dr. Amir Azeez. Abdul Sattar Edhi is a volunteer of the hospital.
