Ghaziabad railway station |
Ghaziabad railway station is on the Kanpur-Delhi section of Howrah-Delhi main line and Howrah-Gaya-Delhi line. It is located in Ghaziabad district in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh. It serves Ghaziabad.
History
Through trains started running on the East Indian Railway Company’s Howrah-Delhi line in 1866.[1]
The Ghaziabad-Moradabad link was established by Oudh and Rohilkhand Railway in 1898.[2]
Electrification
The Tundla-Aligarh-Ghaziabad sector was electrified in 1975-76, and the Ghaziabad-Nizamuddin-New Delhi-Delhi sector in 1976-77,[3]
The 140 km (87 mi) long Ghaziabad-Moradabad line was taken up for electrification in 2010-11.[4]
The 254 km (158 mi) long Khurja-Meerut-Saharanpur line, including Ghaziabad-Meerut link was under electrification in 2010-11, with 142 km still to be completed.[4]
Local electric trains
Local electric trains are available regulalrly from Ghaziabad for stations in the National Capital Region. Distance: New Delhi railway station 27.5 km, Old Delhi railway station (25.1 km), Hazrat Nizamuddin railway station (28.9 km), Anand Vihar (18.0 km).[5]

Amenities for passengers at Ghaziabad include:Waiting rooms, water coolers, vegetarian and non-vegetarian refreshment rooms, book stall, computerized reservation office, and telephone booths.[5]
Loco shed
Ghaziabad electric loco shed serves the Delhi area. It housed 47 WAP-1 locos in 2008. It also has WAM-4, WAP-4, WAP-5, WAP-7 and WAG-5HA locos.[6]
