Gevgelija (Macedonian: Општина Гевгелија, Opština Gevgelija) is a municipality in southern part of Republic of Macedonia. Gevgelija is also the name of the town where the municipal seat is found. Gevgelija Municipality is part of the Southeastern Statistical Region.
Geography
The municipality borders Kavadarci Municipality to the west, Demir Kapija Municipality to the northwest, Valandovo Municipality to the northeast, Bogdanci Municipality to the east, and Greece to the south.
Demographics
According to the last national census from 2002, Gevgelija Municipality has 22,988 inhabitants.[1]
Ethnic groups in the municipality include:
- Macedonians = 22,258 (96.8%)
- Serbs = 367 (1.6%)
- Vlachs = 214 (0.9%)
- others.
