Get Santa is an upcoming American-British comedy film directed and written by Christopher Smith.[1] The film stars Jim Broadbent, Rafe Spall and Kit Connor.[2]

Plot

A 9-year old boy Tom (Kit Connor) finds Santa Claus (Jim Broadbent) in his garden shed, after escaping wreckage of his sleigh and desperate to return to Lapland, Santa asks Tom and his dad Steve (Rafe Spall) for help. It's just a few days before Christmas, and his reindeers are found running loose through the streets of London.[2]

Production

On May 12, 2011, THR announced that Ridley Scott's Scott Free Productions is producing an "untitled Christmas family film", Christopher Smith is set to write and then direct the film.[1] On May 8, 2013 Jim Broadbent joined the cast to play the lead role of Santa Claus in the film, producing by Liza Marshall.[3] In November 2013, BFI Film Fund supported the film's production with £1 million, set to begin filming in early 2014.[6] On January 16, 2014 while filming is underway, more cast added to the film includes Rafe Spall, Stephen Graham, Ewen Bremner, Jodie Whittaker, Warwick Davis, Joanna Scanlan, and Nonso Anozie.[4] Warner Bros. will release the film in UK while Altitude Film Sales will handle the international sales.[4] A nine-year-old son's character will be played by a new young actor Kit Connor.[2] The other cast includes Perry Benson, Matt King, Joshua McGuire and Hera Hilmar.[5]

Filming

The shooting of the film began on January 16, 2014 in London and Yorkshire.[2] It will also be filmed in Leeds and Bradford.[5]

Release

On January 27, 2014 an image was released of the film.[7]
