Dr Geoffrey "Geoff" Lee MP (born ca 1968[1]), an Australian politician, is a member of the New South Wales Legislative Assembly representing Parramatta for the Liberal Party of Australia since 2011.[2]

Early years and background

Lee attained a Bachelor of Applied Science (Horticulture) from University of Western Sydney Hawkesbury[2] and was managing director of Hambledon Garden Centre, a garden centre and landscaping business in Parramatta[3] from 1992 until 2001. He completed his Master of Business Administration from Macquarie University's School of Business Administration in 2001 and commenced teaching part-time at Liverpool TAFE. Between 2004 and 2006, Lee became a lecturer in business at the University of Western Sydney (UWS),[3] and during the same period completed his Doctor of Business Administration at Macquarie Graduate School of Management.[2] In 2007, Lee was appointed Associate Dean (Engagement) at UWS.[2][4][5]

Political career

At the March 2011 elections, Lee was elected as member for Parramatta and received a swing of 25.8 per cent in the traditionally strong Labor seat. Going into the election, Labor held Parramatta with a majority of 13.1 percent, making it a very safe Labor seat on paper. He later said that could not have won—and certainly not with as large a swing—without winning over dozens of people who had never voted for a Liberal before.[6]

Dr Lee is currently the Deputy Chair of the NSW Parliaments' Public Accounts Committee, one of the most important committees is the NSW parliament, and of the Legislation Review Committee. Dr Lee is also the Co-Chair of the Indian Ministerial Consultuative Committee helping to established better relations between NSW and the Indian Government.
