Geneva Mendoza Cruz, who is better known by her screen name Geneva Cruz, (born April 2, 1976) is a Filipina singer and actress. Cruz was a member of the defunct music group Smokey Mountain.
Career
Cruz began her career in 1989 as one of the lead singers of the popular group Smokey Mountain.[1] The Smokey Mountain album went double platinum while her first album, I Like You, went platinum. The album produced several hit singles, including the title track and "Anak ng Pasig" (from the movie of the same title) in which Geneva appeared. "Anak Ng Pasig," was also chosen as Best Pop Song by the 1992 Catholic Mass Media Awards. Cruz's most recent album was released in August 2013.
Personal life
Born in Gagalangin, Tondo, Manila, she comes from the Cruz clan (one of Tirso Cruz Sr.'s Great Grand-Daughters) which include celebrities like Tirso Cruz III, Sunshine Cruz, Sheryl Cruz and Donna Cruz.[1] She is also the cousin of actor-dancer Rayver Cruz, and singer Glenda Cruz.
She was married to MTV VJ KC Montero from 2004 until 2013.[1] She has an eighteen-year-old son, Heaven, by her former husband, musician Paco Arespacochaga.
Geneva is presently engaged to Lee Paulsen who proposed on August 19, 2013.[2]
Cruz is a long time vegetarian and animal rights advocate.[3]
