Gary Edward Wagner (born June 28, 1940) is a former Major League Baseball pitcher for the Philadelphia Phillies and Boston Red Sox.

Biography

Wagner was born June 28, 1940, in Bridgeport, Illinois. When he was 25 years old, in 1965, he pitched his rookie season for the Philadelphia Phillies (his debut occurring April 18, 1965). He was primarily a relief pitcher in his career, although he started a few games occasionally. Throughout his six-year career, this was the season he pitched the most.

He played for the Phillies until 1969, when he was traded to the Boston Red Sox, for whom he played until the end of the 1970 season. He began the season in the minor leagues in 1971, but was released by the Red Sox. He played the rest of the year in the Montreal Expos organization, ending his professional baseball career.
