Gary Pritchard

Gary Pritchard (born 1970) is a professional broadcaster and journalist. He reports on sport, especially football, in the Welsh language.

Pritchard was born in Bangor, Wales, but lived in Liverpool during his very early years until moving back to North Wales when his father, a Policeman, took up a position on Anglesey. Pritchard was educated at Ysgol Gymraeg Morswyn primary school in Holyhead, and Ysgol Uwchradd Bodedern secondary school in Bodedern, both on Anglesey. After leaving school he studied to be an optician, a career he later pursued for seven years.

Becoming a regular panelist on the football show Ar Y Marc on BBC Radio Cymru in 1997, Pritchard later joined the station as a researcher in 1999. He has contributed a column on football to the current affairs magazine Barn. Pritchard is married and the father of two young children. Pritchard is a fan of Wrexham A.F.C.

He is also a contributor to the Welsh Football Data Archive, specialising in the Anglesey League.
