Gary Griffiths (born April 1983) is a Welsh baritone from the village of Pembrey, near Llanelli, Wales.
Personal life
Griffiths was born in Carmarthen and grew up in the village of Pembrey, Carmarthenshire.
Education
Griffiths attended Pembrey C.P. (primary school, ages 4–7) and St. Michael's School, Llanelli (secondary school, ages 7–18) where he was Head Boy. He then trained as an actor at Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts in London where he was awarded a Dance and Drama Award and gained a BA(Hons) in Acting. He went on to study singing at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama where in 2009 he won the prestigious Gold Medal, gaining BMus and MMus degrees, both with First Class Honours.[1]
Career
His career started at Welsh National Opera singing Guglielmo (Così fan tutte), Masetto (Don Giovanni), Claudio (Beatrice and Benedict) and Schaunard (La bohème). Other roles include Belcore (L'elisir d'amore) for British Youth Opera and The Dog and the Inn Keeper (The Cunning Little Vixen) for Grange Park Opera.
He made his London Symphony Orchestra debut in 2013 under the baton of Valery Gergiev at the maestro’s 60th Birthday Gala concert at the Barbican Hall, singing 'Trojan Soldier' in Les Trojans (Berlioz). Other concert performances include Mozart Requiem with the Orchestra of Welsh National Opera under Christoph Poppen at St David's Hall and Belshazzar's Feast (Walton) with the Guildhall Symphony Orchestra under Martyn Brabbins at the Barbican Hall
A committed recitalist, appearances include the Oxford Lieder Festival with Sholto Kynoch, the Wigmore Hall with Sir Thomas Allen and Malcolm Martineau, King’s Place with Iain Burnside, Cowbridge Music Festival with Joseph Middleton, the Lower Machen Festival with Caradog Williams and the Ravinia Festival with Marcelo Ameral. He was recently selected as a rising star in BBC Music Magazine. In his native Wales he has been highly successful in many competitions including MOCSA Young Welsh Singer of the year 2008.[2] He was the winner of the 2012 Welsh Singers Competition and represented Wales at the BBC Cardiff Singer of the World 2013.
Discography
His recordings include 2 collaborations on former Royal Harpist, Catrin Finch's new album 'Lullabies' with Julian Lloyd Webber for Deutsche Grammophon.

Television appearances include The Shân Cothi Show,[3] Dechrau Canu Dechrau Canmol[4] and Noson Lawen[5] on Welsh TV channel S4C.
