Garshyamnagar is a census town under Jagatdal police station of Barrackpore subdivision [1] in North 24 Parganas district in the state of West Bengal, India.
Demographics
As of 2001 India census,[2] Garshyamnagar had a population of 7354. Males constitute 50% of the population and females 50%. Garshyamnagar has an average literacy rate of 79%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 84%, and female literacy is 75%. In Garshyamnagar, 8% of the population is under 6 years of age.

North 24 Parganas district has been identified as one of the areas where ground water is affected by arsenic contamination.[3]
