The people here are well cultured. They maintain good standards in their life.

Climate and Occupation

The climate will be normal and usual like other places even though its located in the foot of Kodaikanal hills. But there will be good circulation of water resources. The rivers that cross this village are Manjal river and Vaigai river. In the monsoon, the village receives a good rainfall and the water resources are well enough to cultivate crops throughout the year. They are performing a well planned irrigation here.

The basic backbone for the people of Genguvarpatti is Agriculture. Most of them will be highly engaged in cultivating paddy, sugarcane, cotton and more.

During 60s and 70s the Social welfare Board having HQ at Madurai used to run 'primary health centre' at this village catering to the minor non emergent needs of ganguvarpatti, kamakka patti, g kallupatti, thummalapatti and outskirts of devadanapatti. The village nurse [whom the villagers affectionately refer as 'doctaramma' used to attend to pre natal, delivery and post natal needs of all the female villagers there. One Lalithakumari was there during 1959-63 who had attended to more than 800 deliveries there. That period was really a golden period both interms of village unity and climate itself. Nostalgic recall of village visit to kamakshi amman temple at devedanapatti hilliock is worth recalling any day.
