Plot

Gangoobai (Sarita Joshi) is an elderly widowed maid servant in the small town of Matheran, working for an affluent family. She one day sees the daughter of the family wearing a Gara sari bought from a very posh store, Ardra. The sari mesmerizes her; she cannot sleep that night. She counts all her savings, and finding it short of the expected amount to buy a similar sari, she works hard for the next four years to save enough. She makes the trip to Mumbai to Ardra, which at that time is having financial difficulties, and there meets Daksha (Mita Vashisht), the manager, Waman Ponkshe (Purab Kohli), an accountant, Monisha (Nidhi Sunil), a model, the designer Rohan (Rajendranath Zutshi) and Jamshyd Mistry (Behram Rana), a rich elderly person.
