Gandevi is a City and a Municipality in Navsari district in the state of Gujarat, India.
Geography
The town of Gandevi lies in the prosperous southern part of the state of Gujarat. It lies approximately 50 kilometres south of the city of Surat, and 20 kilometres south of the city of Navsari and about 7 km north from the city and rail junction of Bilimora.It is a small beautiful town well connected by roadways and serves as a link connecting the major towns of Navsari district.Gandevi is situated in the Coastal heartlands of South Gujarat region.The nearest city with an airport is Surat, and the nearest international airport is in Mumbai. Gandevi is situated on the bank of river Vangania. It is considered to be one of the major town of South Gujarat region. Gandevi is Taluka,however it is smaller than taluka's largest & Navsari dist second number of city Bilimora
Economy
The area in and around Gandevi is blessed with very rich black cotton and clayey soils, ideal for the cultivation of mangoes and sapota (called Chikoo in India). In fact, the district of Navsari is the biggest exporter of the sapota fruit in India, and India is the biggest sapota exporter in the world. Gandevi has a market place called Gandevi bazar which acts as a commercial hub of the town. Basically Gandevi got more retailing business which consists of small scale entrepreneurs. Nowadays the town is experiencing construction & infrastructure development and its area expansion as well.

As of 2001 India census,[1] Gandevi had a total population of 15,865 in 3,243 households with an even sex ratio. Gandevi has an average literacy rate of 77%, higher than the national average of 59.5%. Male literacy is around 81%, and female literacy is around 72%. 10% of the population is under 6 years of age. A good number of Gandevi residents have immigrated to countries like USA,CANADA,UK,SOUTH AFRICA,AUSTRALIA etc.
