GameEon is an Indian Game developer company having its office in Mumbai, India[1] and is one of India's upcoming game developer and publisher. It was founded in 2011 by Nikhil Malankar and Prasad Kajarekar.
GameEon was started in 2009 as just a simple idea. It was an idea in the minds of two 9th grade kids namely Nikhil Malankar and Prasad Kajarekar, the Co-Founder of GameEon Infotech Pvt Ltd. The actualization started in 2011 when they started their research on how games were made.[2]
Their first game 'Kyte - Kite Flying Game' got over 250+ downloads on first day and went on to cross 10,000 downloads within its first week of launch.[3] However because of quality issues the game was taken off by GameEon in the month of August, 2013. GameEon, as of August 2013, consists of a 30 member team and has its office in Mumbai, India.
History
In 2009, Nikhil Malankar and Prasad Kajarekar were inspired by Rockstar Games Vice City. Back then, as kids they had visioned a virtual world like their dream game and decided to start a company when they grow up.[4] This dream was then shaped into reality in the coming years when they both started pursing their passion for developing games and assembled a team in March, 2011. GameEon launched their first game 'Kyte - Kite Flying Game', a 2d kite flying game which consisted of 4 game play modes. The game was launched on PlayStore. However, they launched two more products in the coming months which were top quality and really ahead of their time.
2009-2011
This was the time when both the founding members started taking efforts to assemble a good team of developers and finally found a good team with their college friends and a few industry professionals.
2011-present
On 19 July 2013, GameEon launched their second kite flying game titled 'Kites: Mumbai'[5] which was way better than their previous game 'Kyte - Kite Flying Game'. They claim it to be the world's first 3d kite flying game.[6][7] After more than 6 months of this game's launch they re-launched the same game and titled it as 'Kites Surfers'. As of 5th December, 2013 Kites Surfers is available on Android whereas Kites: Mumbai still continues on iOS.[8] On 1 August 2013 they launched their third game 'Ball: Infinite Challenge' which gained a modest response from the audience. This game used Kevin MacLeod (composer)'s composition 'Cupids Revenge'.[9]
'Kites Surfers' ,'Kites: Mumbai' and 'Ball: Infinite Challenge' were developed in Unity (game engine).
After the launch of 'Ball: Infinite Challenge' the company's game 'Kites: Mumbai' was duplicated and posted on Google Play as 'Kite: Mumbai' by a spam developer account as mentioned on the official facebook page of the company[10]
