Kaleburnu (Greek: Γαληνόπορνη, Turkish: Kaleburnu) is a village in the Famagusta District of Cyprus, located on the Karpas Peninsula. Kaleburnu Village is famous for its two mountings & many caves [citation needed]. The Gastro Cave between Kuruova and Kaleburnu villages is a man made cave containing three rooms - and nearby, there is also the ominously named Execution Cave, near Kaleburnu, where there is said to be a golden earthenware jar hidden somewhere. There is one cave however, known as the Hot Cave, north of the Ağirdağ (Agirta) village on the southern slopes of the Five Finger Mountains that you should not try to enter, as it is a partially collapsed natural formation which emanates hot air [citation needed].

Etymology

The name of this village in Greek means tranquil-morning. It derives from the words γαλήνη -which means tranquility -and πωρνόν which in the Greek Cypriot dialect means morning. Locals speak both Turkish & Greek. The correct interpretation of πωρνή in the Cypriot dialect is morning (the Greek πρωινή), so the name means tranquility of the morning.[citation needed].
