Galen Hadley (born March 9, 1942, in Lincoln, Nebraska) is a Nebraska state senator and former mayor of Kearney, Nebraska, United States, in the Nebraska Legislature .
Early life
Galen Hadley was born in Lincoln, Nebraska. His father was a salesman and his mother was a housewife. He also has a younger brother and a younger sister.
Education
Galen Hadley graduated from Lincoln High School, just like his mother. After graduating from high school, he went and studied at the University of Nebraska at Lincoln. He graduated in 1964 with a bachelor's degree in accounting. While he was working in Denver, he earned his master's from the University of Colorado through their night program. Eventually he returned to the University of Nebraska at Lincoln and earned his Ph. D. in accounting. He taught and held higher positions at different colleges including the University of Nebraska at Kearney and the University of South Dakota.
Mayor of Kearney
From 2004 to 2006, Galen Hadley was the mayor of Kearney, Nebraska.
State legislature
Hadley was elected in 2008 and 2012 to represent the 37th Nebraska legislative district. His party affiliation is Non-Partisan He currently sits on the Intergovernmental Cooperation, Revenue, and Transportation and Telecommunications committees. In the 2008 election, Hadley beat Jim George by 129 votes. In the 2012 election, Hadley beat out Josiah H. Woodward by 741 votes and Mike McShea by 1,842 votes.
