Gajwel is a town and mandal in the Medak district of Andhra Pradesh, India. Recently it is changed into Nagara Panchayat by govt.

Geography

Gajwel is located at . It has an average elevation of 568 meters (1866 ft) above sea level. Gajwel is about 53 km from on the Rajiv highway Secunderabad. It is one of the fastest developing towns with new industries moving their headquarters and facilities in. The nearest airport is Rajiv Gandhi International Airport in the Andhra Pradesh capital city, Hyderabad.

Demography

Gajwel mandal encompasses 52,659 acres (213 km2) of land. There are approximately 10,600 houses in the mandal. According to the 2011 census, Gajwel mandal has a population of 3,47,091 of which 1,73,628 are men and 1,73,463 are women.

Assembly Constituency

Gajwel is one of the largest assembly constituencies of the Medak district.[citation needed] T.Narsa Reddy is the current Member of the Legislative Assembly and the same congress is the current ruling party in the state.

Economy

Agriculture is the primary industry. There are no special minerals found in this region. Approximately 49,997 acres (202 km2) of land is suitable for irrigation.

In the recent past, the area has witnessed a sharp increase in the population of dairy cows and buffaloes that has led to increase in milk production by almost two and a half times. The people of the area are rapidly adopting dairy rearing in addition to agriculture as a source of additional income. Currently, there are 5 dairy farms with a strength of over 200 animals and as many as 100 mini dairy farms in the area.

The veterinary services to these farmers are provided mainly from the veterinary dispensaries located at Pregnapur, Mulugu, Wargal, Jagadevpur, and Toopran.

Education

Gajwel mandal has 24 primary schools, ten upper middle schools and five high schools along with several government and private junior and degree colleges.

There are also several higher educational institutions: a private engineering college (Syed Hashim College of Science and Technology (J N T U, Hyderabad); the Government-run Residential Polytechnic College with three branches ECE, Mech and CCP exclusively for SCs located at Sangapur near Gajwel. Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya also caters for the population of Gajwel.

Infrastructure

The nearest railway station is about 25 km away.

Gajwel has a hospital with 100 beds. There are also several private medical practitioners along with nursing-home facilities.

Several banks are located in the mandal, which includes State Bank of India, State Bank of Hyderabad, Grameena Vikas Bank (Manjeera Grameena Bank), Andhra Bank and Co-operative Bank.

Gajwel has four cinema theaters. Started with Tirumala Theatre,Yadagiri Theatre,Santosh Theatre,Sangeeth Theatre.

There are several function halls in Gajwel. Started with Satya function hall afer that PNR, VISHNAVI, T LAXMAN, PRAGNA and many more. Real estate also highly affects this village and nearby. a famous religion temple "saraswati temple" at wargal. a laxminarasimha swamy temple at Nacharam.

There is also a SUB-REGISTRAR OFFICE which covers 5 mandals and around 147 villages.

Religion

The area is primarily Hindu with a Muslim minority. As such, there are several hindu temples. There are also some mosques in the town.
