Gai Marie Brodtmann (born 24 November 1963) an Australian politician, is a member of the Australian House of Representatives for the seat of Canberra representing the Australian Labor Party.[1] She succeeded Labor MP Annette Ellis, who retired from politics at the 2010 federal election.
Early years and background
Brodtmann worked as a public servant at the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade and later in the Attorney-General's Department. She subsequently ran her own small business offering Media communication services to organisations such as the Department of Climate Change and Energy Efficiency. Brodtmann is married to ABC journalist Chris Uhlmann.[2] She states that her ancestors were Chinese, German, Irish and Scottish.[3]
