Gabriel Campillo (born 19 December 1978 in Madrid, Comunidad de Madrid) is a professional boxer from Spain. He resides in Madrid, Spain. His nickname is "Chico Guapo". His professional record includes 21 wins (8 knockouts), 4 losses, 1 draw, and 1 no-contest. He won the WBA light heavyweight title from Argentinian Hugo Hernán Garay on June 20, 2009.[1] He lost the belt to Beibut Shumenov on January 30, 2010 in a split-decision loss. The bout was rematch of a close decision win over Shumenov in Kazakhstan. Most observers thought Campillo clearly won the second fight. His bad luck with US judging would continue, as he lost a highly controversial split decision to IBF champion Tavoris Cloud in February 2012. Although knocked down twice in the first round, Campillo got up to win most of the rest of the rounds. Although not known as a puncher, his last few wins (albeit against lesser competition in Spain) have been by KO. He was KO'd by Sergei Kovalev on January 19, 2013, in only three rounds, and was stopped by Andrzej Fonfara in 9 rounds later that year. His nickname is "Chico Guapo" or "Handsome Boy" [2]
