Francis Capra (born April 22, 1983) is an American actor. Some of his best known roles are a young Calogero Anello in A Bronx Tale, Max Connor in Kazaam, and Eli "Weevil" Navarro in the TV series Veronica Mars.
Personal life
Capra was born in the Bronx, New York City, New York to a Dominican father and Italian mother.[citation needed] Capra was raised in the Bronx and attended public school at PS71 until the 5th grade. He then attended Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic school right down the block from PS71.[1] He currently lives in Los Angeles, California. His father was killed in 2003. He gave this message in honor of his father:
"I never knew my father and when I did, it was very briefly. He was incarcerated for most of my life and he was killed two years ago; he was shot."[citation needed]
"I think that even though my father wasn’t there, in his death and in his memory...he has been a mentor to me in my manhood because my mom couldn’t teach me how to be a man."[citation needed]
Capra has upwards of 18 tattoos,[2] of which the most visible are dollar and cents signs at the corners of his eyes and a crown with the word "Familia" on the left side of his neck. His arm tattoos include a tribute to his late father (the name Capra inside a cross surrounded by the words "Fallen Angel"), the names of his younger siblings, symbols of the Muses Thalia and Melpomene, the words "Seize Cash" and the phrase "The Good Must Suffer." His favorite tattoos are the ones of his family's names. His most recent tattoos are the words "Forsaken" and "Forgiven" on the back of his hands.[citation needed] Capra has stated publicly his interest in eSports and is also a longtime player of both World of Warcraft and StarCraft, claiming to be quite skillful at both.
Career
Capra began his acting career in 1993 with A Bronx Tale. He played the recurring character of Eli "Weevil" Navarro on the critically acclaimed TV series Veronica Mars and had a small guest role on The O.C. Most recently he was seen on The Closer, Lincoln Heights season 3 premiere, Criminal Minds, Friday Night Lights and on the movie screen in Crank. He starred in movies such as Kazaam, A Simple Wish and Free Willy 2. He portrayed Jesse Murphy on the TV show Heroes, following in the footsteps of Veronica Mars co-star Kristen Bell.
