Fort Kinnaird

Fort Kinnaird is a large outdoor retail park, which is located in the village of Newcraighall, just off the A1 in the southeast of Edinburgh, Scotland. It opened in 1989.

Fort Kinnaird has many shops, restaurants and entertainment complexes and is soon to be extended for the second time in as many years in the area that once housed Megabowl, Chiquito, Frankie & Benny's, Odeon and Harveys.[citation needed]. This redevelopment was expected to open late 2009, with a major reorganization of the existing car parking areas as well as new restaurants and new pedestrian zones but has currently been delayed.

Fort Kinnaird is owned by the Gibraltar Limited Partnership, owned 50/50 by the Crown Estate and The Hercules Unit Trust, a Jersey based property unit trust. Gibraltar Limited Partnerships are often used to avoid or reduce UK tax payments.[2]
