Formicola is a comune (municipality) in the Province of Caserta in the Italian region Campania, located about 45 km north of Naples and about 20 km northwest of Caserta. As of 31 December 2004, it had a population of 1,492 and an area of 17.4 km².[1]
Formicola borders the following municipalities: Camigliano, Giano Vetusto, Pietramelara, Pontelatone, Roccaromana, and Rocchetta e Croce.
In Italian, "formicola" means "ant city."
