First trimester bleeding

In obstetrics, first trimester bleeding, is bleeding from the vagina during pregnancy in the first trimester (0 weeks-12 weeks gestational age).
It is a common occurrence and estimated to occur in approximately 25% of all (clinically recognized) pregnancies.[1][2]
Differential diagnosis
- Abortion (threatened, inevitable, complete, incomplete, missed, habitual, septic)
- Gestational trophoblastic neoplasia
- Ectopic pregnancy
- Implantation bleeding
- Chorionic hematoma
- Spotting
- Lower GU tract causes
Mnemonic: AGE IS Low (during first trimester)
