FireChaser Express is a steel family launched roller coaster currently under construction at the Dollywood amusement park located in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee. The ride's revealing was part of a large announcement made on August 21, 2013. The roller coaster is scheduled to open in March 2014. [1]

History

Dollywood began teasing that a new attraction would be built at the park for the 2014 season by posting one word clues daily on the park's website.[2] A trademark for the name "FireChaser Express" was filed on August 8, 2013.[3] The attraction was official announced in the morning of August 21.[2] The ride will be installed by Ride Entertainment Group, who handles all of Gerstlauer's operations in the Western Hemisphere.[4][5]

In Summer 2013, ground clearance began for the new attraction. A sign was erected near the site with the words "Coming in 2014: The next big adventure... It'll be a blast!"

As Of January 26 the ride has been completed but work on the landscaping and show buildings continues.

Ride

FireChaser Express' theme will be based off the several volunteer-based fire departments surrounding the Great Smoky Mountains National Park in the 1940s.[1] The ride starts out with a launch and a quick twist to right and left several times until reaching the lift hill, it will then slowly climb the chain lift hill, the ride will proceed into a small curve drop into another curve then a drop into several camelbacks. After the camelbacks the train goes through a tower into several more camelbacks and curves before heading to an s-bend and a tunnel, the train will enter into a brake run where it will quickly launch the train backwards onto a different path slowing down before leading into the switch track which brings you back to the station right after another train launches. The track length will be 2,427 feet (740 m).
