Fiona Horne

Fiona Horne (born 1966 in Sydney) is an Australian singer, rock musician, radio and television personality, actress and author. She was the singer in Australian band Def FX and has published numerous books on witchcraft. She is considered a worldwide authority on Modern Witchcraft[citation needed], being invited to speak at Harvard University on the subject in 2006.[citation needed]

Television, Acting and Film

In 2001 Fiona starred in the Australian opening season of Eve Ensler's theatrical production. 'The Vagina Monologues'. She has continued to act appearing in four films, 'Unbeatable Harold' with Henry Winkler, 'Cult' with Taryn Manning and the independent fantasy features, 'Fable-Teeth of Beasts' and 'Ember Days'.

In 2004, Horne was a host (called an 'Alt') in the reality television show Mad Mad House for the Sci Fi Channel. She competed in Celebrity Survivor for the Seven Network Australia (which aired in August 2006).

Musical career

Fiona Horne has recorded and released music with punk band, The Mothers (including the 1980s single "Drives Me Wild"/"Get Outta My Life" and the mini-album 12-Incher, both on Waterfront Records); chart topping Electronica band, Def FX (on Phantom Records, EMI/MDS/BMG/Universal); Sister Sludge; and Paul McDermott (the single "Shut Up/Kiss me", November 1998). In March 2007 Horne released her first solo CD Witch Web(Mystic Monkey), based on her spiritual practice. In 2010 she released the spoken word album, "Magickal Life-Guided Meditations and Spells for Positive Change"(Mystic Monkey).

Fiona's band Def FX announced a fifteen-year nostalgia reunion tour playing their greatest hits and toured Australia in 2012.

Personal life

Fiona is a world record holding skydiver (achieving the POPS Vertical World Record in July 2011)[citation needed] and regular contributor to the United States Parachute Association's official publication, 'Parachutist'. [citation needed] She is an accomplished SCUBA diver and works regularly with SCUBA diving accreditation body, PADI, creating and appearing in their educational and promotional material.[citation needed] Fiona is also a student pilot (SEL) with 100+ hours of flying time as of January 2012. The Cessna 172, Piper Cherokee as well as taildraggers, the Citabria Decathlon and Piper Cub are the planes she currently flies. Fiona is vegetarian and was formerly vegan.[1]

In addition to Fiona's non-fiction books published below, in 2011 Fiona secured a Young Adult fiction book deal with the publishers of the 'Harry Potter' Series, Allen & Unwin. The book, titled 'WITCH – A Summerland Mystery' will be published September 2012.
