Fintry is a small village in central Scotland, nestled in the strath of the Endrick Water between the Campsie Fells and the Fintry Hills, some 19 miles (30.5 km) north of Glasgow. It is within the local government council area of Stirling. The 2001 census results show that Fintry and the surrounding rural area had a population of 691.[1]

Facilities

The village has a Sports Club with rugby pitches. There is a primary school in the village with a nursery class annex. It also has a hotel - Culcreuch Castle which is reputed to be home to the largest colony of bats in Britain. It is a popular wedding venue. There is another pub in the village - The Fintry Inn with a second pub/hotel currently closed and for sale (2013). Secondary age pupils attend Balfron High School for which a school bus is provided. This is the only public transport out of the village apart from the post bus. If Catholic pupils wanted to attend an RC school they would be bussed to St Modan's, Stirling but it is not believed any currently attend.

The old village lies along the main road with a second part off the Kippen Road and consisting of much more expensive housing.

Religion

Fintry is a Church of Scotland Parish in the Presbytery of Stirling. The kirk is located to the East of the village. The parish minister for Fintry is shared with Balfron with the Manse located there.
